Is your fuel pump working properly ? Check your fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge .

When's the last time you changed your fuel filter ?

Check all your vacumn lines . Have any leaks ?

Hope this helps ! Goodluck !

Catalytic converter clogged. After running the car look under it and see if the cat is glowing.

wouldn't the car stall if the converter was stuck on lock?

A V6 would, yes, but a V-8 would just suffer a major "power loss".

The best way to check the converter is to drive at about 50-60 MPH steady speed. Then while keeping your foot on the gas, tap the brakes while watching the tach. When the bakes are applied you should get a rise in RPM on the tach, this indicates that the torque converter unlocked, when you let off the brakes the RPM will drop, indicating that the torque converter has locked up.
If it doesn't work (unlock/lock) then you'll need to do some troubleshooting to find out why eg; ECM is not telling it to lock up, the TCC isn't getting voltage to lock up or the TCC is bad.
The TCC is inside the trans and you can change it yourself, its a messy job and you'll be laying on your back under the car staring at the trans.

Its possible, but I'd think that if it was bad enough to make one of your manifolds glow red it would have set a code. But who knows, the ECM never seems to do what you expect when things go wrong.
