shut car off, few hours later, it won't start!?????

OK guys, lemme see if you can shed some light, offer suggestions, etc. shut the car off, a few hours later, tried to start it, got a couple of coughs, wouldn't start. tried opening throttle slightly, started, ran, but as soon as i let off gas, it shuts off. Heard fuel pump run(could still be bad), had a weird batt voltage, like 16?(middle bar between 13 and 18, on the way home before i shut it off). I'm thinking maybe ingition module or pickup. I'm gonna try running some diagnostics tonight, to see whats up.....check fuel pressure, fuel filter. anyone with a similar problem, any thoughts greatly appreciated! thanks in advance,
Joe

I had the exact same problem and it turned out to be my ignition module.

I installed the new one this afternoon, started the car and it started right up and was fine other than a serious miss, I believe it's my rotor ( I hope), it looked pretty worn out.

My only problem installing the ignition module was that the plastic clip that joined the two wires coming from the pickup coil was shattered and I had no idea which wire went on which of the two posts.

If anyone has recently installed an ignition module, or can remember installing one, could you please clarify which wire connects on which post?

Welcome to the party

I figured out my problem i belive. The rotor on my came undone fromt he distributor somehow(one bolt anyways) this caused the rotor to throw itself off and sheer off some of the cap points. And in turn they bent the rotor point all to hell. Dont ask me why the car didnt do this until i shut it off it ran fine, just wouldnt restart. If you want pics ask ill be more then happy to show you the blasted apart rotor and cap.
