What temp should my car be running at stock?
Also, I have seen that a lot of you have cooler running thermostats, why? The engine shouldn't be cold all the time right? Also, what thermostat do you recomend and how much does it cost and how do you replace it?
Thanks

The fan doesn't turn on till 227* or so.
A cooler engine will produce more HP, but for emission purposes were designed to run warmer.
With a CC car I would go with a 180* stat.
You can get a stat and gasket for like $6. To locate it follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the intake manifold. Under the thermostat housing is the stat.

Should be around 225 or so, stock. That's why the 220 is in the middle of the stock temp gauge.
My car has a modified 195 degree thermostat and it runs at about 210, unless I get stuck in really bad traffic, then it climbs up to about 225. My current setup consists of a Stewart StageII pump, a new stock radiator, and the aforementioned thermostat.
The hot setup for thermostats is the Robertshaw unit. Mine is modified with three 1/8" holes to allow for a small amount of coolant flow before the thermostat opens. (StageII pumps don't have a pressure bypas)
