my car smells like gas after/while running. The smell seems to be coming from the back of the car. I've checked the whole fuel system all the way back to the fuel filter and have found no leaks. There is a small tube coming out of my gas tank that looks like a small breather. Could this be why I'm smelling gas?

 

check to see if your charcole canister is saturated

 

How do you check it?? Just flip it over and see if its wet??

 

takt it loose and shake it, if it has gas in it youy ought to be able to hear it

 

and what if it does, will it require replacement??

it's a pretty strong smell. If it was the canister why would the smell come from the rear of the car? I'll check it anyway when I get home. Would I have to replace the whole thing or is there a valve on top that can be replaced?

 

This is the valve coming off the tank.. Mine broke and I smelled feul all the time. Just pull it off the line its hooked to and blow through it or shake it. Mine was completely hollow. New one from the dealer is like $10
