Check to see if the wire is on the sender. When I knocked off mine, it pegged the needle.

Exactly, also, the gauge might be bad now. I know when I got my car, the gauge was pegged and had an aftermarket one hooked up.

hey guys, i got a quick question for you on this subject. When you say pegged, do you mean it stays there all the time, even when the cars off? The gauge on my 83 is real high, and I'm getting that problem with the gauge on my 95 Jeep grand cherokee too. So mark, your saying the gauges could be blown because of this? Thanks guys,
aaron

Like said, it might just be a wire connection problem, or it could be the gauge, it's easier and cheaper to check the wire first. My stock gauge is always pegged.

The sender unit might be bad. Its notorious for GM cars for the oil gauges to wacko.

I got Autometer guagues in the A pilliar pod. The GM don't worl well and I need to know my oil pressure at all times since my car has over 200,000 miles.
