Blew up my battery

We were adjusting the timing on my 1992 RS today when I decided it would
be a good idea to clear the codes on my ecm by disconnecting the
battery. The bolts were stripped and I couldnt get the negative to come
off so I asked my friend to try. He got it to turn but dropped the vice
grips onto the positive side and we had our very own fourth of July
fireworks show in my engine compartment. after it sparked for about 20
seconds and we got the fire out, the battery was obviously dead. We put
his battery in my car so I could make it home, but I was wondering if
there's anything I should be worried about now/

If you had blown up the battery, it would have been a major mess with acid all over the place Probably did some damage to it after arching for 20 seconds or so but I'm not sure. Get an Optima battery, they've been the best I've used. My dad had to jumpstart a cab over semi truck one time with just the one Optima battery. Now that's some cranking power I had mine on a battery/charging system tester and it tested at 940 cold cranking amps.

Yeah the Optima batteries are dry cells, which means that there wont be any more acid spilling everywhere. My Dad's got three of them, one in both of his cars and a spare. They're only rated at 833CCA but will put out more.
