Is there a way to fix a broken valve guide.
Is there a way to fix a broken valve guide.
I was finishing porting a head and had a valve left in there, to polish around the seats. Well I tried to get it out and smacked it with a hammer. I ended up cracking the guide. After I got the valve out I was able to break the guide all the way down to the base. It looks like a half inch insert would fix it but Im not sure. It might take a 9/16. But is that doable. I have quite a few hours on this head and I dont want to junk it. So any help is appreciated.

Take the head to a machine shop. They can replace the broken guide. I would also replace the valve. If you broke the guide hitting the valve with a hammer the valve is probably bent.
