AHH AHH AHH GRRR!! They replaced my control arm busings with an air hammer..

Alright, i learned today i HAVE to have my car fixed by 7:00am tomorrow.. I live in apartments, and they notified us today that they are repainting the stripes at 7:00AM!!!!!! they didn't give us the notice until 6:30 PM TODAY!!!!!!!!! so i grabbed my control arms and went running for a shop open past 6:30 that "pressed front control arm bushings".. I found a shop, they said they would do it, they took them, got out an AIR HAMMER (i guess this is how most people used to do it), i would of prefered a PRESS to have it done correctly, but I needed to have it done, well an hour and $40 later these are the results..........

Hack Job! People like that give good mechanics a bad name. You might use an air hammer to take out old ones(I do), but they should either be pressed in or installed with a bushing installer.

yep i and a lot of other people use air hammer to remove them, i use a press to put them back in with. even a simple bolt and nut type installer isn't hard to make and works pretty good.

ya. it didn't bother me too much that he was taking them out with the air hammer. I just would of hoped that he was using a press so it wouldn't take so long.. But when he was putting them back in and didn't go grab one of his other presses (ball joint press etc), i was starting to worry.. i hope the damage isn't enough to cause any handling loss..
