the engine code is 3970014

what year is it and would you be able to know what size the heads are on it?

also would my flywheel bolt up to it?

It's a 350, and thats about all I know. Thats the same number that mine has. It can be a 2 or 4 bolt main, mine was 2 bolt
Check for the suffix codes ( I think thats right) on the block right in front of the lefthand head as you stand facing the moter. Then check those with Mortec.com (don't have the link) and see what you find out. Mine was out of a 73 Camaro. Hope this helps.

Also get the numbers of the heads and check them at the same place. Odds are there the crappy ones like mine are.

It's somewhere between 1970 and 1976, meaning two-piece rear main seal, meaning your flywheel will bolt up to it.

what do u mean by crappy?
what size were the valves?

the machine shop guy said that he thinks it is 75 and previous cuz he said they started painting the blocks blue in 76

Some of the mid-70s 350s had very small valves in the heads for smog reasons. Like 1.72 intakes There is nothing wrong with the block for rebuilding though. Just get a good set of aftermarket heads or port and polish a set of decent GM heads. Chevy High Performance mag's website has good flow data on some GM heads.

Or go Vortec for heads and intake.

the heads are 333882
all it said on www.mortec.com is that they are 74-80 350/400 heads and that they are 76cc chambers

it didnt say valve sizes
