stock 400 crank

what kind of power can a stock 400 cast crank hold?

i believe i read an article of a guy who had a basically stock 400 bottom end and was shooting his nova to 11s with no problems.

can anybody verify that this is possible.

thanks
andrew

Using the stock pistons and rods to 11s is

However, when properly ground and machined the stock 400 crank is perfectly fine. GM cranks are fairly tough. The 400 crank is especially tough due to the increased main journal size. The 400 rods are good to just under 400HP when in good condition. The pistons are roughly the same. If you plan to run 11's I would strongly recommend either race prepped 350 rods or aftermarket rods hanging forged pistons. The stock block and crank are good to go provided they are machined right.

yeah i am not going to use the stock pistons and connecting rods for my engine. i think that some good 5.7" rods and some hypereuretic pistons will do just fine.

also Dr. Pepper, nice name. I should have thought of it when i regestered.
