Oil Pressure Problem!! help :(
OK I have been having the same problem as erik_jacobs a little down in the posts but I'm sure that's from a it's time for some better parts (honey, I think I need to get the car a tune up
) New cam, valves, springs, rods, lifters and timing chain.
Anyway I'm kinda straying. Just a few minutes ago I was comming back from Wawa (it's like a 7eleven for those outta the PA area) and had a HUGE miss, hell I though the damn thing was gonna stall out but it didn't and came back like nothing had happened. About 5 minutes after that I looked over at the oil pressure gauge and -----------. flat! It had been kinda lame for a while, sitting at around 60 psi cold and dropping to about 16-25 hot idle. I really hope It's just a sending unit!! Where's the unit located? What voltage should it read and if it's not what can I do to get this fixed before my motor just sto ..... Ha ha little joke in my time of crisis
If you guys/gals (I've seen you girls creeping and peeping the boards
) could give me come cheap fix situations it would be very kind.
Although I'm gonna drop a 383 in my T/A (someday, darn $$) I was hoping to just sell the motor not have to have the first 87 Formula with a L69 option!!!
P.S.
I took the ol bird out this morning and the oil gauge red ( red ha ha get it red as in the bad zone not read) 15 p.s.i. at cold start and after warm-up it droped back to 0. Guess that means the pump is bad? Any other things that might cause this? What does it cost to get the oil pump replaced? Someone please talk to me! I know you're reading the post! Just take a blind shot in the dark. Your guesses can only help!
