ticking

Hey guys,

I have been noticing a quiet ticking noise coming from the drivers side of the engine, it is pretty constant and I hear it the loudest at about 1500 rpm.

Any ideas as to what this is?

Thanks,

Ben

It can be many things. The most common would be an exhaust leak.

it is not an exhaust leak, it sounds like it is coming from inside the motor heh... I don't know--> how do i check to see if a rocker is loose?

Thanks,

Ben

I would check for a collapsed lifter, but never rule out an exhaust leak. Unless the sound goes away.

Most likely the sound is a tapping pushrod, caused by a loose rocker or a sticking valve.

I'd suggest taking off that air cleaner. I had one on my old Stang, backfired and burnt the foam and sucked it into the carb.

Before you rip your engine apart, check the pcv valve. It ticks very quietly.
