1984 TA weight

I have a 1984 trans am with a GM crate 350 and a 700R4 trans.

I have been trying to find the stock curb weight forever (with the 305 HO) If anyone has any idea please let me know

Also, how much difference in weight is there between 305 and 350. Thanks

there is no real diff in weights of 305s and 350s

if anything, a 350 is probably lighter because less cast iron remains in the block after boring the casting .125 over a 305 bore diameter.

Most early 3rd gens were in the 3200-3300 range.

My Z28 HO was about 3270 new. T/As were somewhat heavier, just from being Pontiacs; plus it had a steel hood not glass. I would guess in the low 3400s.

Stop wondering, guessing, and trying to find out. Take it to a truck weigh station along the freeway and get it weighed.

I remember I found a site that had some specs, of course, no proof that they are accurate at all

http://members.tripod.com/~Proformula/3rdgenstat.html

the weight number are quite a bit lower than everyone here has said, so Im guessing they are off.

As for getting it weighed, as far as i know there isnt a weighing station around me =\

My 86 Trans Am 305 5 speed weighed in at 3380 with 1/4 tank of gas, leather seats, power drivers seat, all power options, 16" GTA wheels, and 91-92 T/A Flat Wrap-around Spoiler.
A/C was removed as well as the emmisions.

Car should be even lighter with my LT4 unless my 17" WS6 Wheels weigh substantially more than the really light weight GTA wheels.

On the door jamb of my driver's side door, the weight reads: 4142 lbs. manufactured 3/84.

That's with a stock 305 [now 350 crate], A/C, a 5 speed, T-Tops and stock ground effects.

Wow, that's really weird, it should be 1,000 lbs lighter [according to what others are saying] I wonder what gives? [not that fat ]
