car won't go :(

i have an 84 z28 with a carburated 5.0L engine and a 700R4 tranny. the car starts fine and idels ok. when i put the car in gear it will start to go, but then the rpms drop and the car starts to stall. if i give it more gas it will kind of chug down the road but it will only go like 10 or 15 mph. if i don't give it more gas, it will just stall out completely.

i rebuilt the carburator and installed a shift kit, but that was almost three months ago and it ran great till now, so i don't know if either of those are the problem.
i don't know what to do so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wonder if your float or needle valve is hung up and the bowl is running dry

i tried putting a new fuel pump on and that did not work.

when the car is in park it revs up just fine, but when i put it in gear, it starts to mess up. could it still be a carb problem if it revs up ok when it is not in gear?

Question. You don't have a Quadrajet Electronic Carb do you? Because, my 84 Trans Am used to have one and when the ECM goes bad the car used to do exactly that. Except mine would start then cut off after like 30 seconds. If you have that carb and it's doing that, replace the ECM it will run fine. If you don't have that setup, it is probably a fuel delivery problem like was already stated. Or one of the floats in the carb is messed up.
