question about my 383
question about my 383
I am fixing to finish my 383 stroker motor. Well temporarily, I will need to use sopme stuff that will hender its performance, i.e. stock heads and the TBI. My question is, is when I get this done, what will it do with the TBI on top of a 383, will it feed it at all? And just for fun, how much power. tee heee. Thanks ya'll

As long as the rpms are low the thing will run ok , but feel like you have a sock in the intake...lol, anyway listen closely for detonation so you dont ruin the motor until you get the induction for the cubes, the tune from the chip will be worthless. I wouldnt recomend doing this, I would wait. (patience is a virtue and the wait will be worth it)

your taking quite a chance on something going wrong
with used parts. I would not do it. Wait a little longer.
Heads with old valve jobs, loose guides and old seals do not work well with new bottom ends.

In that case I would raise the fuel pressure about 4 to 5 PSI that way at least it will quell some of the tuning, What kind of shape is your FP in? will it stand up to the temporary demands? Detonation is the only thing I would worry about, if youre able to keep your foot out of it. Be conservative on your timing and I might run a little colder plug with the TBI.

Cool, yeah I know it will be tempting to get on it, especially going from my 305 to this 383. I am happy, but I know that if I really get on it, then my tranny will probably blow, it is starting to slip. So I am goig to be careful, also to let it have time to break in.
Thanks,
