Air Cleaner question

I have an 82 CFI 305. The Air Cleaner has a Vacuum Motor on it which is connected to a Flap inside the Cleaner. Now when I grab the Flap, I am able to move it open and close.

Am I suppost to be able to close and open the flap or is this normal?

I would think so, it opens when you give it some gas. But I could be wrong.

Yes it is normal, the vacuum motor (diaphragm) that drives it is pretty small, you can push against its spring easily.

Cool! Thanks for the Replies. Here's another question, how do you know that the Vacuum Motor is broken?
