Don't buy the 6AL for your car. It is a waste of money. You don't need it for a carb. Carbs have been working fine, almost as long as fuel injection, without one.

You do however need a non-computer-controlled distributor. Spend your money there instead of the MSD box.

Taylor Spiro-Pro wires are my preference.

I do not use a 6 AL.

No you don't need the MSD. You may want it, but your car doesn't need it. If you have a non-CC HEI it will work just fine without it.

ok well u know more then me so i am about to thank u for saving me 200 bucks but first i need to ask one question. i wa slooking at my distributor its the summit hei and i saw the ignition module's for an hei dist in my summit and took off my cap and rotor an started lookin. well i see wut the ignition module is and i was wonderin if when i crank the engine it spins the dist. making electricity then it goes to the ignition module then to the coil and then to the rotor and sparks and starts the engine. now is this right or will i need something else to get the engine to start or do i just drop the dist. in and it will start rigth up? also would it be worth it to spend 40 bucks and get the pertrnix flame-thrower ignition module for hei just to give it a little extra power or would there not be a diff? oh and one more thing, would an msd cap and rotor help or no? man thank u so much u are a life saver

That's pretty much it. All that the MSD box does is amplify he signal the module sends to the coil.

As long as the distributor is dropped into the engine correctly, it will run.

I would not bother with any special modules, at least not until after the car is running properly, and probably not even then. Keep the number of variables you have to troubleshoot at startup to a minimum. You can always swap it later if you want to.

A new cap & rotor when putting in a used distributor is always a good idea. The MSD ones are good quality and will work fine.

Wait a second 'RB83L69' my distributor doesn't have a module. The MSD is the module/multiple spark/capacitive discharge/rev limiter

Yes, the Accel 8mm will work fine.
I used Accels 8mm on DFI, and they worked good.

Exactly in noncomputerized HEI aplications the module is removed and the msd is run directly to the pick up, and there is a difference in performance.
