Anyone w/digital cam? Need V8 p/s pump, v-belt, 2groove pulley pic! Or rebuild mine?
Hey guys, of course, after years & years of seeing 85-86 2.8 MPFI's with power steering pumps, and not buying one- I need one, and nobody's got one!!! So I was wondering; I haven't come across a V8 f-body yet with a motor in it; is the 85-86 V-belt'd v8 pump a two-groove pulley? And what kind of mounting bracket is it? If somebody could take a pic of theirs (or show me where a pic is located of one), I'd appreciate it!
Or, should I rebuild mine? Looks like the front seal's one out on it, fluid is leaking out "into" the back of the pulley. Ever since I got my car in '94, the pump would make a slight scraping noise in the cold. I wonder if the shaft or bearings are somehow scored, but would it be worth it to rebuild mine? I'd rather rebuild my own than buy a pre-rebuilt unit. And I'm looking in the yards for an original GM pump... one yard tried to sell me one that was rebuilt, with a bent pulley, for $40. 'Course I didn't notice until I got home... and yep, they took it back.

You've got mail... it's a 83, but the 85 & 86 are the same IIRC...
You can rebuild your own, but it's rather a PITA. You can get just the pump, and re-use your old reservoir if you want. Also you can get a new pulley at GM, they're actually surprisingly cheap.
