is there any way to test the heater fan?
I am going to try and get my heater fan working tonight. It has not worked for over two years now and I have finally had enough. I have replaced the fan motor, relay, and the switch and still nothing. Anyone have any other ideas that i should check. I have a chiltons manual with wiring diagrams in it. I am going to trace the path all the way to the motor to see where it stops. But I think the easiest thing to do would be to test the motor first. Can I just hook it up to a battery charger and see if it spins, or will this wreck it. Our battery charger has a postition for 12 volts/ 2 amps. I think I will try that position and see if it works, then trace the wires. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Would you rather test the motor, or fix the problem?
pull out your control head, trace the brown wire back into the dash about a foot, you will find an extremely stupidly designed connector that will be burnt to ashes. Replace it with a pair of the real heavy-duty slide terminals, not the regular kind, but the kind that interlock. I've had to replace 4 of those so far within my immediate family, including 2 in my own cars.

well I made hardly any progress tonight. I did find out that the motor works, I just can't get it to work with the switches.
RB83L69- I found the brown wire and the connector. But it didn't look burnt or anything. So I decided not to mess with it.
I do know that I'm getting about 10 volts to the switch and a little over 9 to the motor. How many volts does it take to run this motor? Anyone have wiring diagrams out of a helms manual that they could scan for me? The chiltons ones are pretty weak.

10 volts to the switch isn't right. THere's high resistance in teh feed to it somewhere. 9 volts while running is about what the next to highest speed setting of the switch will end up supplying, so it should work fine, if it was getting that with the motor hooked up.
Did you take the connector apart and look down inside it?
