car turns over very fast, but takes forever to fire up!!!!!!!!!
it doesnt matter if the car sits overnight or 5 minutes while i run in the store. it takes for ever to fire up. new starter, alt, batt, cables, once it starts there are no prob's. fuel pump whines, but it still works. everything on car is new. motor, wires , plugs, coil, inj., etc... can anyone help? this is a 350tpi that was an original 305 tpi. if that helps any. tia
try the fuel pressure regulator, sounds like you are loosing fuel pressure. Also, check the gas cap, if old it will not allow the tank to keep pressurized. Sounds like crap, but believe me, it is possible.

rings are shot? do a compression check? the motor has 22k miles on it! she runs like a scalded dawg when it fires up. i checked the fuel pressure and it was 39psi. i dont know if that is low or not. fuel pump whines though, so i am gonna look at that first. what should fuel pressure be? thanks for the help!!!

Does it blow out black smoke when it finally starts? if it does, it's either leaking fuel into the intake, or it's way rich for some other reason.
If it doesn't blow out black smoke when it starts, can you make it fire right off with starting fluid? or if you turn it on, wait a couple of seconds without trying to start it, then turn it back off and wait a couple of seconds, then turn it back on, and do that a coupel of times and then try to start it, will it fire right up? if it does then your fuel system is leaking down.
Is it worse when the engine is hot, or when it is cold, or is it about the same?

i havent tried turning the key off and on, but i will. it really doesnt seem to matter how long the car sits. the injectors have 22k miles on them and were sent to cruzin to be cleaned and flow matched. im guessing a dying fuel pump. forget to mention, no smoke what so ever.
