Go fast stuff for 305 and later for 383
Hey guys I'm new to the boards so if I dont make sense let me know. I have a 87' camaro z28 with a 305 v8 4bbl stock. the car has no cat and is straight piped from the engine to the cat with what i think is stardard size pipe. I want to do some work on the engine and drive it for some time and then get a 383.I also wanted to know of what transmissiton (TH700?) and driveline ( want to get disc brakes in the back and was told that i could put a 90s trans am driveline easy???) would be the best for a car that will only be driven and never raced ( but would like to go REALLY fast!!!). All help is greatly appreciated.:lala:

Car: 1968 Camaro
Engine: 406
Transmission: Tremec TKO
Axle/Gears: 3.42
The best modification you could do to your 305 would probably be to bite the bullet and get a 350.
...headers and an exhaust will probably be the most popular answer, but I say you look into insurance fraud. Hire somebody to steal your car, remove the engine, and abandon it somewhere. It'll have to be pretty convincing because hey, who would actually steal a 305, right?

All SBC parts are iterchangeable between 305 and 383 except the rotating assembly. Cam heads push rods rockers flex plate carb intake blah blah blah are all the same. Happy rodding.
