Help me plan my winter engine rebuild

I have pretty much decided I am going to start saving the 2 gees I need to rebuild my engine. I need your help or suggestions.

I have a original LG4 with a Quadro jet. My numbers on the engine all match and the engine has 210,000 miles. Right now it runs fine (powewise) but I can see the begining of blowby blue smoke when the car is ideling in park sometimes. This is going to be more than valve guides/seals. I also have had really bad luck swapping different motor sizes over the years in different cars so I really don't want to change to the 350 even tho a friend wants to sell me a 350 for $250.00 but it did not come out of a 3rd gen(which I don't think matters) and he is the neighborhood junk man. What if his motor turns to be junk. I would be pissed.

My questions are as follows:
1. Should I change the Quadrojet to a Holley or something else?

2. Is this the time to put on TPI or TBI 350 headers and if so which ones?

3. I definetly want to change intakes so my car can open up it's lungs. what brand/size do you recommend?

4. Do I bore out the 305 and if I do to what size?

5. Which pistons to use and what type/size?

In the end I want more power and reliability but I want to also make sure that my engine works and I am not running back to the mechanic(did I mention I am not doing the work) or the parts store for a ton of conversion(if I use the 350) parts.

I really can't afford a crate engine so I have to rebuild what I have already. Your suggestions are welcomed.

you can get a 200 some odd hp 350 for around 1800... look in the back of magazines like hot rod and such, it wouldn't really be worth it to rebuild the 305 if your looking for performance and definitely go with a holley carb and a edelbrock intake.
