What do I disconnect to set timing on my '83 Z28?

Just wondering. Don't I need to disconnect something on the distributor to properly remove the computer control from the circuit when setting the timing?

if so, which connector? the flat 4 wire one? or something else?

Thanks,
Clem

its slipping my mind, but the short wire that runs to the thing in front of the distributor cap....there are two wires hooked to it, unhook the one with the brown wires, it disconnects the computer so it wont advance or retard the timing when ur trying to set it

I'm pretty sure that on your car it's the 4-wire connector going into the back of the distributor. I think the connector is different on later models.

Right, it's the 4-wire Weatherpack that hangs down off the back of the dist.
