Ok guys, need your help...

Last night my car ('90 IROC-Z) was broken into, and they attempted to steal it.

They gained access by pulling the passengers side window outward and sliding a hand down to the lock release. Once inside, they broke open the steering colum and attempted to hot-wire it... but failed (thank *** I have a '90 w/ the built in key-chip).

Anyway, the car is totally dead.. no lights or anything, which means the security code has probably been tripped (I did it on accident a year ago and the exact same thing happened, dead car).

Now, my question is... can I unplug the battery to reset the car? Or is it totally shut down cuz of the broken steering colum?

Also, the car is in my dad's name and I just found it was broken into about 10 mins ago, should I call the cops now? or wait for him to get home (within the hour)?

Call the cops.....

You dad will have to sign the report.......

When you find out who did it, make sure to take out your anger on them...... it's reliving.......

But I still have the problem of the car not starting...

If I unplug the battery for 30 mins, will that reset it?

Well, I got it towed to the dealer... guess they'll take care of it..
