The easy way to tell would be to look at the insurance slip.
I know my insurance slip lists my car as a Firebird Formula.
This might help.
If it's not on the insurance slip, then try descibing the wheel type (what it looks like, what size tires), whether or not its got ground effects, etc.
There is also a VIN DECODER on this website. Try looking for it on the main page. It should be able to tell you what type of a Firebird your car is.

My guess would be that it's just a base model Firebird.
I do remember knowing a guy that had your wheels on a 6 cylinder car. He said the wheels were an option, so I'd guess that your car probably has that option too.
They are ugly, aren't they?

Do you know the rear is really a 3.23, or are you depending on the "codes" for that info?
They're not particularly reliable. If your car looks like a base Bird, then it probably is. If it matters to you what gears are in it, take off the cover and look. Have you changed the fluid lately? If not, then it needs it, and you have to take off the cover to do that anyway, and you can look at the gears while you're there.
I don't think anyone here is going to be able to tell you why GM only offered certain options combos as their standard packages 16 years ago. Keep in mind that it's possible to special order all sorts of things that aren't part of the std packages, so it's not impossible that the "codes" could be right.
What difference would all this make to you?
