confused electric problem

hi...
i have a 85 firebird with a 87 tpi swap in it i have a really wird one that i cant figure out

when i am driving the motor runs ok and everything but then out of nowhere my power will cut out and the dash lights will dim a bit my sterio will stop and flicker alot anyone have any ideas on this one i have just replaced the altinator and i have looked for lose wires bu gigling them and it does tdo it when i accel and or hit bumps so it kinda a constant thing but it rarly does it in park or nutral so i am lost here it used the new style delco altinator too and there are junk i have gone trough 10 or them in 2 years (good thing i have lifetime warenty on it)

sounds like a loose ground wire to me, check the ground wire going from the passenger side head to the firewall and make sure it is nice and tight.

Once you've verified clean ground straps, clean mounting points, and tight fasteners, start looking at the fusible links near both the battery and the starter. Pull on the wires to see if there is any stretch, burned or blistered areas, corrosion, etc.

You should also check the positive and ground power node connections near the battery for corrosion and good connections.

hey thanks everyone for the insight i found my problem my power wire was shorting out when ever i hit a bump it would hot the block and cause a short thanks for all the advice
