Smog Pump

Is this the smog pump? What does it do and what effect would disconnecting it have on the engine and computer?

Thanks
Bill

That be it!!!!!
All it does is inject air into the exhaust providing oxygen so the catalytic convertor can "burn off" the remaining gases.
If you take it off, it will not effect your car at all. The computer will not even know the difference. However, once the air supply is gone to the cat, it will clog up. If you remove the air pump, you need to remove the cat (or simply gut it out).
Without the cat and air pump, you will see a mild increase in performance and exhaust note.

Oh man.....I really screwed the pooch on that one. That is the Power steering pump.
The smog pump is on the lower passenger side........

I forgot that when they went to the serpentine belt it was only the top stuff (AC compressor and alternator) that switched sides.

Damn........I'm getting pathetic in my old age!

You can't miss the smog pump......it has an air hose coming out of the back. Anyways......everything else still pertains.

SORRY:hail: Begging for forgiveness from the Camaro Gods!
