Low oil pressure

Well when i first got this car, it was idling and staying around 30psi ( according to stock gauge ). Now at idle its around 0, and when i give it sufficient amount of gas, it raises up to 30, only when i first start the car does it idle at 30psi, and then if i get on it, it will go up to around 50psi or so.

Isnt it suppose to idle around 30psi, and then when i get on it (after its warmed up) raise up to about 50psi? This is what it did a couple weeks ago when i got the car.

I have this engine restore stuff (pop can) and synthetic oil which i will be changing later today.

Also, it does burn oil, quite a bit actually, since ive had it 2 1/2 qrts. I Dunno, maybe he used an additive or something.

Anyone have any clues?

The standard is about 10psi per 1000rpms. There are many post on here about that, if you use the search. But 10psi per 1000rpms is the general rule.

the stock gage is about as accurate, as a drunk persons eyesight

seriously though, it may have a bad sending unit if its a factory, electric gauge
