Removing AC.. What comes out?
Removing AC.. What comes out?
I want to pull out my AC system in my car, what needs to come out? I know tha pump needs to come out, but I'd like to clear more space in the engine bay. What other components can be taken out along with the pump?
Thanks

is there a way to do it without buying a ac delete box, in case i want to put it back into the car in the future? and what exactly comes out, a picture would be a tremendous help. i know hte compressor can come out if its being replaced by a pulley and that silver canister but i'm not entirely sure. any help wuold be apprecciated, thanks guys

Lets see, you can take out the condenser in front of the radiator, and the lines going back across the passenger side. The accumulator (metal can) can come out as well. If you have a serpentine setup, you must have the AC delete pulley to remove the compressor. If you have a v-belt setup, just take off the compressor. I'd recommend the AC delete heater box, it gives a ton of more space, and looks really nice. That's what's shown in the picture below. If you get the delete box, you can always go back and swap in the AC box later if you want to put the AC back on. Otherwise, if you dont want to buy the delete box, you can use the AC box, but you have to cap the lines coming out of it, so that when you turn on the heater, the air will come into the passenger compartment in the car, rather than blowing out the lines into the engine bay.

Also, you may want to put a jumper wire across the AC pressure switch, or your fan will run all the time. Then again, some people like the fan running all the time to keep the car cool. That's up to you. When I deleted my AC, I didn't cut off any of the wiring harnesses, in case I ever want to put AC back on. I just taped them up and tucked them out of sight. Here's a pic of the switch you'll want to jumper to keep the fan from running all the time.
