Axle/Gears: stock/3.42
vortec heads

i was given a set of heads from a 96 z-71. (vortec) any est. on what i am looking at to have them reworked.$$$$$ and any suggestions on what to do to them. i am going to put them on a 350, planning on approx. 10-1 comp, cam hasnt been decided yet. with a 600 edelbrock carb. any info would be appreciated

i'd run a holley carb. since the heads were free you might come out ahead over aftermarket. anything over .45 lift you'll want the tops of the valve guides machined off and replace the pull out studs with screw in. might want to consider having the spring seats enlarged too depending on your cam. call some machine shops in your area to get prices. around here i'd cost me 32 dollars for the spring seat and i'd do all the milling myself.
