distributor sits a little sidways??
ok guyes i just swaped out my 305 tbi for a 350 carb and i noticed that my distributor sits a liitle sideways, liek not lever with the engine or top of the carb but it sits on the manifold fine. does anyone know why its like this? also i have a pretty good oil leak witch is just a drip but about every 5 secound it drips and it makes a pretty good sized puddle. now when i look at the dist. where it sits on the manifold itsd oil but the damn thing is on so tight but it doesn;t look l ike the gasket is smashed. now does any1 know where else this oil leak may be comin from or have any insite into to matter caus ei would greatly appriciate it. oh yea would the gasket not seal anymore if it got oil soaked? thanks guys
do you have the base of the distributor where the gasket goes making intimate contact with the intake? if not take it out and reintall it untill you do. you might have to reposition the oil pump drive shaft with a screw driver to get everything to line up. if it is installed correctly make sure the cap is secured properly, and you don't have a clip or two off or not fully engaged.

well my distributor is fine and i cleaned it up really good and its not leakin, it seems that the intake is leakin from the back or the head is warped and leakin from the back. looks liek i am definatly not havin it ready by august 29th wheni get my license. *** i hate my life lol.

RTV, i figured be4 i ripped the intake off i would just clean it up and put more rtv back there where it was leakin so i think it might work. if not i will let u know cause i did it tonight and wunt to wait until tomoorrow to start it so its nice and dry.
Totally normal. THe distributor will lean about 2* towards the driver's side of the car. You just nev3r noticed it before. All small blocks have that slight lean on the distributor. That's how it's designed to sit.
