I need a clutch pedal and all that good stuff for a auto to manual swap.. are they pretty much the same for all the years?? also what exact parts do i need for the swap? (im just talking about the clutch pedal assemble and master (slave?) cylinder stuff) and what parts should i get new??

 

I think they are all the same. Hell I have an 87 IROC and got mine out of a 87 firebird. My swap isn't complete yet,the motor isn't even in the car yet but I do have the pedals in so I know they fit. The only parts I can think to buy new is the clutch pressure plate and disk and pilot bearing. Thats all I can think of right now (just woke up). Check in Tech Articals there is an artical on auto to T-5 swap and it list all the parts and the precedure.

 

Yep they are different. Just get the pedals from a hydraulic clutch car and you'll be set.

How I know this is because I just picked up a 89 IROC that was convertered to a mecanical linkage 5 speed. To get the car to run I had to screw with some wires under the dash and noticed the pedal assmenbly was different. (I've done 2 auto to T56s and one auto to 5 speed sawps.)

The differance is that where the u-bolt comes through the fire wall to hold in the clutch master cylender there are 2 bars that come down off the pedal assembly (I think they mount to the pin that holds the pedal itself) and mounts where the u-bolt comes through to help stiffen up the fire wall.

So basically get a pedal assembly from a 84 and up car

Just a question for those people who have swapped to a 5 speed setup. Did you set up the car so the clutch has to be engaged to start the car?? This is how the car's are from the factory, and was wondering if there's some sort of way i can delete that.

I've seen the device that causes this, but just curious.

 

I would set it up that way, but that's just me.. wouldn't want to accidently start it with it in gear after a long day at work or something :-)

 

I have the clutch pedals and all that good stuff to do the swap. I have the pedals and the slave cylinder and stuff. I also have the bellhousing that you would need and I also have the flywheel. Don't worry if your engine is internally or externally balanced because I have a flywheel for both so I can give you the right one. I also have the clutch that fits that car too but your will probably want to start with a new one. Thats up to you.

 

i didn't want to take any chances so i just bought me a new pedal assembly from hawks third gen. there number is 1-864-855-2694. call them during business hours and they'll ship you a new pedal assembly.

you'll have to cut a hole in the fire wall for the clutch master cylinder to come through. you connect the hole on the end of the master cylinder push rod to the stud sticking out of the clutch pedal and put the clip on the outside to hold it in place.

and also you have to use a clutch master cylinder for a t-56. the t-56 and t-5 master cylinders are the same. its the hydraulic line that connects to it that are different lengths.
