what cam??????
i am building a 350 for my 82 z-28. i am kinda stumped on cam choice. i will have a 350 .030 over, vortec heads, flat top pistons (10-1 comp), with a aluminum intake and 600 carb, headers, 3.73 gears, and 700r4 trans I have heard not to go over .454 lift with the vortec heads, and i have also been told they are good to .480 lift??????? all i am looking for is a good running, dependable engine that is in the neighborhood of 300+ HP. hopefully this isnt to far fetched.

That should be no problem if you use a Comp XE 256 or 262. The 256 has a max lift of .454, while the 262 is in the .46x range.
Super Chevy has an interesting 350 buildup going on and this month topped 350 hp with the XE 256.
The Crane PowerMax 266 would also be an excellent choice, and would also have low enough lift numbers not to pose a problem.
