NEED HELP...ignition wire = dead...what to tap into?
Installed my new headunit and ran into a problem. The Ignition (+12V) wire going to the headunit does not get any power w/ the ignition on. I checked the connectors and ran a voltmeter on the wire, and it's not getting any juice at all. Where can I look to fix this problem?? I checked all the fuses and they are fine...except I noticed on the fuse box it had a spot that said 'Radio' but it didn't have a fuse in it. Is this the missing part?
Also, what else can I tap into that only turns on when the ignition is on?? I figure If i can't get the ignition wire itself working, I can splice a wire into the fuse box or somewhere connected to something that turns on w/ the ignition. I was thinking perhaps stick it in the Fuel Pump socket??
Thanks!!

try tracing the wire back to the fuse box. make sure the wire is connected etc. if not you can run a wire direectly to the battery aslong as you fuse it or just match it up with your constant 12v wire. but this is very mickey mouse as your stereo wont shut off when you shut off the car. but if you dont care about that then thats an easy fix.

also make sure it is the ignition wire and not the dimmer wire. test the wire again and turn on your headlights if you get voltage then you got the wrong wire.
Thanks for the help...
I tested all the wires earlier and the only one that yielded any current was the 12V constant. It used the stock wiring harness (w/ aftermarket harness attached to it) too. Anyways, I did a quick fix and inserted a wire into the IGN/ECM slot and inserted the fuse over it....now it only turns on when I turn the ignition on.
Kind of a 'ghetto' fix, but it works
Hehe, stupid me also forgot to properly label all the wires. When I went to go and connect all of the wires to the crossovers, i 'thought' I knew which was which. Driving to work today and listening to it...sounded real quiet and like ***. Got home and decided to test each speaker at a time. Yeah... I had the rear mids and tweeters reversed... no wonder! Switched them around and it sounds great

well the 'Radio' fuse slot wasn't a regular shaped fuse socket... instead it was more or less a crude square shaped socket, and i couldnt find any fuses that looked like it.
