I have an 88 GTA and I am trying to reinstall my distributor. The problem I am having is that I can get the distributor to go in...most of the way. But it still sits about 1/4" above the base. I have tried turning the rotor and stuff. I just cant seem to get it all the way down. Any suggestions or tips???

 

It's sitting on top of the oil pump shaft. Here's the usual response to that most usual situation, from yesterday.
