Tall valve covers on an 89 Iroc???

How in the heck do you fit tall valve covers on my car? The alternator wire is directly in the way! I'm runnning TFS 23 degree heads if it makes a difference. Center bolt pattern valve covers. Thanks!

The alternator won't swing out of the way if you loosen it, and then swing back into position without touching the valve cover?

Grind the one wire stud down as close to the threads as you can or carefully rotate the back on the alternator about 120 degrees counter-clockwise, (as you're looking at it from the back) by removing the three (I think) bolts that hold it together. Be careful and not pull the back on the alternator too far out when you do this! Then, the pluged in wires may be a little short but it still plugged in on mine. The one wire stud just did clear when I did this but it worked.

This is called re-clocking the alternator by some people and has no effect on the operation of it.
