What cam would be right for me?
I am seriously thinking about camming my car but need help on choosing the right cam. I have to stay within CA smog laws so that's going to limit choices I know. What cam would be good for my car? I am looking for a noticable performance increase. I plan on changing the rear gears in the near future. I need a cam for good acceleration. I am not too concerned about top end performance but more for low end grunt. What are some cams I should look at? What kind of gains can I expect getting rid of my peanut cam? Thanks for any help and adivce.

Anyone? I read in an article online that Accel part #74:211 was a nice cam. I need to find one that will give me the biggest gains while still being smog legal.

If you went to the forum's Search button and typed in "305 cam" you'd be up to your ears in info.
Comp XE 250 or 256
or
Crane PowerMax 260 or 266.
But if you actually have a roller cam, which is likely the case since you have an 87, try a milder Crane grind like their Compucam 2020. Comp doesn't really address that end of the roller market.
