Shift Linkage Problems

So I just bought an 83 Trans Am on the weekend, and the shift linkage is broken. It's not locking in the different gears, and the button doesn't need to be pressed to move the shifter. I took the entire center console out and looked around inside the shifter casing, and found a couple broken springs, along with some other stuff. Is there a way I can repair my shift linkage, or would my time/money be better spent just replacing the whole linkage?

If the case is indeed the latter, where can I pick up a new shift linkage, besides an auto wrecker?

edit: If the linkage is repairable, where can I get a good schematic?
