Oil Pressure

I have what I believe is an oil pressure gauge

What is considered healthy?

when it's just starting it's up around 300 (never goes above)

and then when it's been running for awhile it fluctuates between 200 and 280....

I do notice it's variable depending on RPM... do I just need to worry about it not hitting the red?

if that's a preasue gauge it's not american, maybe metric. if it was in psi 10 psi per 1000rpm is considered acceptable. most engines will run at or over 30 at speed and 20 or so at idle. i just rebuilt my truck engine last winter and everything is still standard in it and i carry 60 or more at speed and 25-30 at idle with a m55 pump and 26 spring from mr gasket.
