What is this engine it said its for a camaro? I always thought 98+ were ls1's and 93-95 were lt1s. What was it in these years or is this not a camaro 350? What would have to be changed to put this in a 3rd gen? What kind of hp #'s did camaros have in these year? Thanks for any help. Sorry i dont know anything on 4th gens

 

It's my understanding that the engines from 93 to 1997 were LT1's and they are not 350's. They are technically 346's or something odd like that. Now they are basically the same however. The bore size is just a bit different. (This is only my understanding and may not be correct.) I know they are rated at 275+ horsepower and about 300+ pounds of torque. However with a few bolt ons or internal mods you can easily get it to 400HP. There is pretty good after market for those engines. Either way it looks like a good buy to me. But I wonder myself what the difficulties would be to install that new engine.

 

That's a standard design 350 SBC, , not from the SBC-II family. It is a Vortec truck engine, but will fit in a ThirdGen the same as a 305 or 350 that might have bene installed originally. One thing to be aware of is that if it was from a truck, the oil pan may not clear the crossmember. If you got one as a short block, it wouldn't matter, but you might get a useless oil pan if you ordered it complete. The compression ratio is probably around 9:1 depending on the VIN designation. You'd also get a cam of unknown profile, but could specify or supply a cam and springs of your choice for a few bucks more.
