Need help quick...car is dead, and no power anywhere...

This morning I was on my way out the door, pressed the unlock button on my alarm...alarm chirped and doors unlocked. I got inside and turned the key. The usual start lights (check engine and whatever) flicked on for a brief instant and that was it. Tried turning the key again, same thing happened. Once more, and now the start lights didn't even turn on.

I got back from school, thinking it was a dead battery, but i tried jumping it, and nothing happened....ran a voltmeter and was getting 12 volts. Nothing inside the car works at all...no lights, no radio, no power locks, no nothing..!

Can someone help me out and give me some ideas of what the hell to look for? I can't find my Haynes manual and searching the board hasn't proven useful yet.....so for now I have a dead 'bird sitting in my driveway.

PLEASE HELP!

TIA!

*EDIT*: I have my battery in my trunk, and am guessing the line got severed somewhere inbetween, or a bad ground....but i have no clue where to check.

Just went back outside, and had forgotten I had the key left in the ignition. Got out there and the fan was on, and the ignition lights on the dash were on! I turned the key, heard the starter click and that was it....same problem as before...starter doesn't even click.

Start looking at connections right at the battery, then the ground connection on the case, then at the starter power node. There is also a positive power node on the inner fender on most of our cars, and conneections there can fail. Don't overlook the fusible links.

Yeah i figured i should start looking there....did so, fixed the problem, and now you have the right to kick my ***.

All it ended up being was a bad connection to the battery!!
But of course, I had already ripped up my carpet, tracing the battery lead, running a voltmeter on everything i could find (was getting voltage on most things...just fairly low..around 6V). My dad came home and i was telling him how my car was dead...at that time i was looking at the connections to the battery as I have the top post running to my amps, and side post running the rest. Well...I just happened to randomly wiggle the main power wire...and guess what? I heard my alarm do it's regular start-up cycle when power is disconnected/reconnected....so i grabbed my keys, ran into the car, put them in the ignition, and guess what... the friggin thing worked!
All it was was a little wiggle to get the damn car working again.
Kind of amazing how the stupidest little things can make a car not work.

Anyways, I greatly apologize for my extreme stupidity and excitement... just had a bad day and wanted to get the damn thing fixed. Thanks for taking the time to read my post, and if you ever see me in person, I give you the right to kick my ***.
