hummmmmm

305 Lo3
T-5 rebuilt last weekend
Installed Flowtech headers, y-pipe, and had it all buttoned up
Removed smog pump according to tech articles
Installed K&N 14" open element according to tech articles
New plugs after 131,000 miles
Drove fine before headers and sorta fine before trans rebuild

Now she boggs down when I get on her.
Smells like fuel.
Sounds like shes running rich.

Is that your reaction or does it sound like something else
I would think it would run lead with more air going through

Are you still using an O² sensor? If so, the heat loss from the headers might be keeping it from getting up to sufficient operating temperature. It's not uncommon with headers, and many people are using heated O2S in place of the original to solve the problem.

I don't think that could be it I keep a good eye on my guages and they are all reacting the same as before I did any work.

Another thing, once the engine reaches operating temperature it should be fine but it isn't.

No, Vader means that headers allow the exhaust gas to cool down more than it previously did with the stock manifolds, therefore the O2 sensor will not heat up properly. That change would not show up on your gauges.

The O2 sensor is only expected to last 24k miles, so replacing it isn't such a bad idea anyway. I don't know the part number for the heated version but you could probably find it with a search of the archives.

It probably needs replacing, I will just to see if it helps.
I still don't see how the headers are affecting the O2
When the o2 was disconnected there was no temp reading
Plug it back in after rerouting and extending connector and same ole same ole.

The O2 connection doesn't drive the temp gauge. (Unless this is something different about the Camaro)

I am guessing that the little connector under the front part of the exhaust manifold on the driver's side is not connected. I *think* this is a temp sensor (not sure). I know when I installed new plug wires it came undone. I think it slides over the end of the sensor. I couldn't see the sensor -- it was hidden by the exhaust manifold.

Your right. I did reconnect the sensor on the block I thought it was just an insignifcant thingy..I guess. That explains why I thought the 02 was the temp sensor.
I guess the heated one would be a good idea, but how do I go about connecting it?
