I found out today from a friend of mine that Chevy is coming out with a new crate engine. A big block 572 , thats right 572 cubes

Specs:
572 CID
Forged steel crank and rods
Forged Alum. pistons
Aluminum heads

Now on this one engine, not sure if it will be sold exactly like this one.

850 Demon Carb.
High rise intake
620 HP @flywheel


So start saving up. It hasn't been released yet for sale so you have time. Those 502's are just too small

 

Yeah, if 600+ ft/lb of torque won't shred up a 10-bolt (or even most 9" Dorfs) then not much will. Looks like it's time to get a bigger body.

Maybe by then Mama's beater will be ready for some more mods. 600+ HP and torque is about right for an Impala..

 

The new 572 looks wicked...

 

The first public appearence of that engine was this past Saturday morning on "Trucks!" on TNN. It was Chevy's retaliation to the Ford 514 and Dodge 528. If you ask me, it's a damn good retaliation.

In other news:

Have you guys ever seen the 632ci. crate engine in Summit? 900+ hp NA. $17,300. Now THAT! is bad ***.

 

if u guys look in novmebers issue of GMHTP there is a spot with crate motors and there is a 555 ci bbc pushin 945hp. thats 20 more hp then the 632 from summit. and its $3,000 cheaper i think.

 

Yeah, I just bought that engine, though I had to sell my car and take out a loan.

 

thats ok, you can fit a seat on those bbc valve covers!

 

that 454 zl-1 crate motor looks good too. only 200 being made though.

 

i was just thinking about that. having an extra 20,000 bucks right about now would be nice...

My go-kart has a 6 horsepower. Right now it won't start. Looks like I need one of these. The cart is direct drive. This should be interesting.
