adding dual electric fans (question about fan swithch in head)

I have dual electric fans I am planning on using instead of my clutch fan. I was wanting to run a fan switch in the head to control them or at least one, and maybe one manual. I was wondering if the fan switch is the same thread size as the temp sensor in my other head, because that is the only other hole I find to put the fan switch in. If it is the same I need to know where I can get something to get the plug out of the other head. The plug has a hole in it like it would take an allen wrench, but it is square. I tried to see if a extension/ratchet would fit but the hole is the wrong size. Can I go to sears and get a square headed socket or something. If so does anyone know what size I would need.

Thanks

Ben

Try a flathead screwdriver (wide enough to fit diagonally) and some vice grips. EDIT: I was thinking about the engine being out of the car, but maybe you have a short, wide screwdriver that will fit?

It is out of the car actually. Also, I can try, but that bolt has probably been in that head for 17+ years, and I dont know if a flathead will take it out. Does anyone know if the fan switch fits the same hole as the temp sensor?

They are both 3/8" NPT. Did you check in the same spot on the driver's side as the knock sensor is on the passenger side? Both my LG4 and L05 have a hole plugged with a hex head plug right there. Or you could tee off the sender hole.

Actually, I am having to move my knock sensor to the driver side because it wont fit on the passenger side with the hooker lt headers. I have not check to see if it will fit over there or not yet, but I am hoping so. I know that the passenger side is made to clear the starter and hopefully different. I guess I will see. Anyway, I doubt a fan switch will fit there either. I will do some more test fitting either tomorrow or this weekend.

If nothing else works, you could also tee (or y) off the CTS, it's 3/8" NPT as well.

I will probably try a flathead and the vice grips, but dont know if that will work. So do they not make bits to fit it(square hole)? If I were to y it off, what should I use to do it?

Thanks

I'm not sure about there being a bit, you'd think an extension would work. You can go down to the local hardware store (home depot or loewe's would be best), find the plumbing section, and look for 3/8" NPT threaded pipe, with one male thread and two female threaded holes. Shouldn't cost more than a dollar or two. Might as well pick up some teflon tape if you don't have any, or you could use permatex form-a-gasket #2 to seal the threads. They should have something that'll work for you.
