going to look at 2 thirdgens tommorow need some info

The other day I was coming home from work.I look over and see a black with gold ground effects third gen.It was funny I noticed it.The car is at a place that sells heavy machinery on consignment. So I call the # and the first guy I talked to said it was some guy's.The guy never came and got it after it didn't sell. They didn't have a title but wanted it out of there.Told me he would call me back friday night.Well they never called back.

I go to work monday the car is still there.I couldn't get ahold of anyone.I had my mom call the place today while she was on her lunch break. She finnally got to talk to the owner of the place. He does have the title. He wants 1200 for the car.Said it has a "souped up engine"That is worth alot more than that alone. The car has some centerline's wheels on it.The back tires stick way out the side.If I get it I will put some stock camaro wheels on it and put thw wheels on my car.I don't like that.He said the body was rough on it though.I have only saw it from a distance.I couldn't tell to well.

He said he has another camaro.Same year. The motor smokes but the body is in better shape.Same hood and ground effects as the other one.He will sell that one for 500 bucks.Which I can buy that one friday. The other one it would take a few weeks.

I know lg4 is the 305 carbed engine code. What where some of them for the 350's?What about rearend codes?

Thanks for any info

Anyhelp would be great.

Do you have any idea what years each of the cars might be? There were no carbed engines offered for general sale from the factory in ThirdGens (at least not in the lower 48).

I went and looked at them.Well the one for 500 bucks I wouldn't want even for free.I am not going into the details about that one.

The other one had a fairly straight body. The wheels weren't centerlines they where chrome steel one's.The motor was a small block with header, edelbrock intake, holley carb. And some kind of magneto thing that my dad said was expensive. It may be worth 1200 but not to me.It had a fiberglass hood that was broken.the interior was trashed. It original had crossfire injection. That is what it said on the dash.It also had a little clock but the center console.I have never saw that before.I was looking for a daily driver.niether of these cars where them.

Then I went and looked at a 93 laser.It was a 4 cylinder stick.i drove it and thought I wanted it.I then drove a 96 cavalier 4 cylinder auto.

I ended up buying the cavalier.

Uhh, yeah. I meant to say carbed 350 engines in ThirdGens. Amazing what a little detail can change. Everyone here knows that carbed 305s were a dime a dozen through 1987.

Thanks for the correction. Someone has to keep me on my toes...

As I was reading the message, and you said the guy told your mom that "It has a souped up engine", I thought to myself, I bet these cars wind up to be trashed. Funny how that turned out. That's like someone saying "it's got a CD player!" when you go to look at a car for a friend.

I mean, because, it's important that the car has a CD player! Forget everything else!
