AntiFreeze Prob

Yea so i got a 3rd gen 91 Camaro RS 3.1l...Anyhow my aunts boyfriends who sold me the car checked all the fluids and made sure they were full. Two days later i checked and the antifreeze was nearly empty so i filled it. I smelt a very odd smell so i popped the hood. To my dismay the antifreeze is yet again empty, so I filled it again. Almost instantly I saw it bubbling and sucking it down fast. Went through a gallon in under 10 mins!! I asked my friend what he thought. He said it might be a leak, but we saw none anywhere inside or on the ground under the car. he also said it may be the head gasket, but we saw no moisture from the exhaust and no white smoke emitting either. So he says he thinks its the thermostat now. He says most likely its stuck and just keeps takin the antifreeze. Its burning off because its boiling or too hot or something?

Can someone give me some tips and/or if hes right or wrong?

Jesse

Keep filling it. Maybe it was empty originally and the fact that you're still putting af in could just be because it's working the air out of the system.
It has to be either low, burning, mixing with oil, or leaking. There's nowhere else for it to go.

head gasket

I had this problemon a Mercury Cougar I couldnt find the leak anywhere until it crapped out on me and over heated the coolant was leaking out the exhaust and I never noticed it cause it would never come out the tail pipe. It would come out of the condensation drain hole at the cat. Needless to say it was a V-6 too and expensive to repair, cause the heads worped from over heating.
