Crazy fuel tanks!
Lately, I've been having a lot of problems fith my fuel tank. First, the gauge is not right at all - it will stay on full for a while and then shoot down, etc. I was thinking that it was just the sender that was bad. But the other day I "ran out" of gas with 7 gallons left, and the mechanic said the baffles in the tank might be broken. Anyone else have this problem? Solutions? Thanks.
I have that problem with my Grand Prix, havn't taken it to a mechanic yet. But It could be a bad sending unit or a bad float. Either way it is not cheap to replace if you go to a shop to do it. They charge 8hrs of labor or so. Just finished or rather almost finished replacing the fuel pump on my GF's camaro. Waiting on the springs to get here to finish putting the car back together. We figured since the rear suspension needed to be dropped and she has worn springs and shocks we might as well replace them while we are down there

mine dose about the same thing, first half of the tank it reads full, then on the half mark i have 1/4 tank.. never even thought about fixing it
neither have I
simply cause if it is a bad float it ain't a cheap part. So I just go by the trip odometer. I know that I get roughly 26 mpg and my tank hold 13-15 gallons so as long as I gas up every 270 miles or so I should be fine
