my tank out of my 83 berlinetta just got a hole in it. i got a tank off of a 91... camaro, i'm not sure what type and i've tried everything i can think of to get it to fit. the 2 tanks look like they are the same and when i measured them they come out the same. so does anyone know why the 91 tank wont fit into the car? thanks, ohya where is a good place to get a brand new tank for my car? this one is just tickin me off to much.

just a WAG but i'd say they are the same tank and should fit. might just not be getting it in right.
i thought so too, we bent down the corners and it doesnt look like anything if hitting anywhere but when i try to attach the straps around the tank they dont reach, we took out the exhaust from everywhere behind the cat just to make sure we had enough room, the sway bars are out too and we've bent the neck of the tank so that it looks like it isnt hitting anything. this is one problem that i'm 100% stumped on

I would say just be patient with it.
When I changed my tank I had a problem simular to this.
It wouldn't go up, the straps weren't close enough to get the bolts in.
So I took a day off, calmed down, got myself under the car the next day, pushed up, and it slid up in place.
Grabbed the jack handle and pumped it to hold it there, and put the strap bolts back in.
The only thing I was thinking is the tanks might be slightly different cause your car would hae have a manual fuel pump where the tank you have should have the hole in the top for the electronic fuel pump. But I don't think that should effect the size of the tank in anyway.

yeah i checked that too... they are good, the only problem i had with those was i had to bend them to get them out of the way then getting them to bend back to normal was a real pain. oh i guess i should have said that when we get the tank in there as good as we can we can barly see where the straps bolt onto the car, its like the tank should go further up but theres no way to do it
