any rebuild suggestions?

i have decided to rebuild my 305 either this summer or next winter. i want to add some horsepower with a perf cam, aftermarket intake manifold (already have a 600 cfm performer carb) and maybe a set of aluminum heads if i can find them for cheap enough on ebay or something. and i was wondering how much more power you can get from boring your cylinders like .30 over??? and how much does it cost? if its worth it i will shell out the extra cash. does anybody have any tips with what kind of cam, intake, heads, or where to get them and where to get the rebuild kit? im not an expert but i am gunna have help doin it. how long does it usually take to rebuild an engine in your free time?? thanks alot everybody

Ya Don't say ? hehehehe

You Don't take the Bore .030 over for power, You do that to Clean it up and Give a fresh surface for the new rings to Seal.

I think you should do a search on the topic of rebuilding a 305.

going +.030 will net you zero in the power department, like bort said it isn't for making power. i doubt you'll find any heads for a 305 made out of aluminum. takes me a few weeks to do one. cost 8 dollars a hole here for a over bore ,but you need a 40 dolalr cleaning, 30 dollar cam bearing, 15 labor, 15 dollar freeze plugs and 10 labor for that. if i have a block at the shop i have the deck resurfaced too, another 30 dollars. i'd stay away from edlebrock stuff. comp or lunati for a cam and valve train parts. for the rebuild parts i use fel pro gaskets ,FM or C&A bearings, melling oil pump, pistons and rings depend on what i'm doing. ARP bolts and oil pump drive shaft.

after doing some checking and reading the posts on building a 305 i think ill just save my money adn this winter or next summer i will pull my enigne, find a 350 for under 300 bucks (there are quite a few in the classified section) and rebuild it and put some performance in it, hoping to reach about 300 hp, it will be a daily driver so i dont want to go too crazy or ill never be able to stay out of jail
