ticking sound
ticking sound
My brothers lebaron is making a ticking sound. The sound isn't extremely loud just enough to hear it. When you accelerate the car, the noise gets a little louder speeds up. I can't figure it out can anyone please help me?
A ticking sound is typical of an exhaust leak, as is speeding up with acceleration. Drive the car in an alley or near a wall and if the sound is much more noticable, that's probably what's wrong.

Heck, it could be other reasons too, collapsed lifter, injectors.

srry my point is if he doesnt know anything(no offense to u I dont know u) then one reason wouldnt be good enough thnks
stuck lifter, collapsed lifter. i had the same problem i dont know if there is ne merit to this but i was told to try to keep changeing my oil there is a minute possibilty it could free up. If not then your **** out of luck you then are better off doing a top end rebuild rather then just replaceing the lifter. Hopefully its just an exhaust leak.

Check the oil first then check for an exhaust leak if thats not the problem and it is indeed a lifter ticking try putting a small amount of trans fluid in thel oil like a half a quart or less and running the engine for an hour or so and then changing the oil this can sometimes help to free a sticky lifter.
